The UK Government has committed to generating 15% of our energy from renewable sources by 2020.
The UK renewable energy roadmap focuses on the eight technologies that are considered key to achieving this in the most cost-effective and sustainable way: onshore and offshore wind are two of these technologies.
One of the ways the government is working towards the UKs vision for renewable energy is through the Renewables Obligation (RO). This is a mandatory requirement on licensed UK electricity suppliers to source a specified and annually increasing proportion of electricity they supply to customers from eligible renewable sources or pay a penalty.
EDF Energy Renewables exists to help EDF Energy meet its renewable obligations and meet its customers’ requirements for low carbon energy.
